Jeremy and I attempted to get a gym pass the other day. Apparently you need a monthly pass otherwise the per-day fee is outrageous.
We went to the first and closest gym which was some sort of fancy club. The girl printed off a piece of paper and scribbled a seemingly random amount down (AR $ 180 ($37/month)). She then said she would need a copy of our passports and that we would have to pay for another $35 peso fee, which she couldn't explain. After, she said we needed a physical from a doctor. Luckily there was one at the gym who did medical checks for $30 pesos! ¡Qué buena suerte!
Well feeling like I was getting slightly ripped off as usual, I got a little defensive and started grilling the girl about the price and the doctor checkup (not knowing that it is MANDATORY at all gyms in Argentina to get a doctor's note). I asked her about the doctor and she had no further explanation. I inquired if the doctor could look at the moles on my back and check other doctor-like things. I wanted to get some sort of value out of the $30 pesos. She said no and seemed upset. Jeremy then informed me that he had come in here the other day and asked for directions. The girl had told him that this was a private club and that she couldn't give him directions. We walked out and went to the next gym.
The next gym was the same except the girl grabbed a piece of paper and stabbed out $250 pesos for the gym, plus a medical exam. "En serio?!". "Si". Ok bye. I was beginning to think gyms were either super expensive here or we were just getting bad gringo prices.
On the way home we saw the third and final gym. We went in, talked with the lady. She quoted $120 pesos and took us for a tour. Quickly, we realized it was the same gym as the first but on the next street up. The gym took up an entire block down the middle. Somehow it was $60 pesos cheaper on this side. We wandered around, back to the other side through the sports club, eventually seeing the original lady. We awkwardly smiled and greeted each other again.
Eventually we left. It was akin to being in a pretentious snobby club. Kids were fencing! We just wanted some place to use weights, run or bike, and swim. We decided not to get the pass but to search another day.
We went home and bench pressed the kitchen table and curled the chairs and did yoga on the wood floor. Thug work out in the bed room.

Top story today in South American news:
Yesterday, Kim Sang Woi, a Korean woman arrived to Silvio Petirossi Airport, in Paraguay (5 August), around mid day, and just sat at the airport waiting. Some authorities noticed her and tried to communicate. When a translator got to the airport they asked her what was she waiting for.
Well, she explained that her Imaginary Friend made a telepathic call to her, instructing her to met him in Paraguay at 00:00 that day. Well, since the imaginary friend did not show, she's still waiting at the airport.
She told the authorities that she would wait till 15:00, and if nothing happens, then she would tell her truth. That was more than an hour ago, and now we are all waiting for the truth to be told.
